# WoW Death Knight Wandering Plague
Wandering Plague (`talent-2003`) makes Blood Plague or Frost Fever damage have a chance, equal to the owner's melee critical-strike chance, to repeat a rank-scaled portion of that tick as area damage.

## Source interpretation
The local generated talent entry supplies the three rank values: 33%, 66%, and 100% additional damage. Its tooltip names Blood Plague and Frost Fever, an 8-yard target radius, and a proc chance equal to melee critical-strike chance. The local client snapshot is authoritative for the rank values and tooltip scope.

The [AzerothCore 3.3.5 handler](https://github.com/azerothcore/azerothcore-wotlk/blob/master/src/server/scripts/Spells/spell_dk.cpp#L3080-L3132) corroborates the dynamic base-attack crit roll, a 1-second internal cooldown, and scaling the triggered spell from the disease hit. Its [target filter](https://github.com/azerothcore/azerothcore-wotlk/blob/master/src/server/scripts/Spells/spell_dk.cpp#L2427-L2513) skips damage-breaking control effects. This is a fork-specific server reference, not a claim about pristine TrinityCore. The [WotLK simulator handler](https://github.com/wowsims/wotlk/blob/master/sim/deathknight/talents_unholy.go#L824-L866) corroborates the rank coefficients and disease-tick damage source.

## Runtime ownership
- `src/game/wow335DeathKnightWanderingPlagueRuntime.ts` reads the generated rank effect and owns the proc profile.
- The shared timed-effect runtime in `src/game/combatStore.ts` owns disease tick resolution for player and generated-companion sources. The proc requires a source-owned Death Knight disease tick that landed for positive damage. Its deterministic melee-crit roll and one-second cooldown are scoped to the owner; the triggered shadow splash cannot recursively proc Wandering Plague. Splash targets are living mobs in the generated eight-yard radius, excluding active statuses marked as break-on-damage.
- Focused helper and player/companion integration coverage belongs in `src/game/wow335DeathKnightWanderingPlagueRuntime.test.ts` and `src/game/wow335DeathKnightWanderingPlague.integration.test.ts`.

## Simulator choices and limits
The one-second owner cooldown is taken from the AzerothCore handler; the local generated rank entries have no cooldown value. AzerothCore's target filter checks damage-breaking crowd control classes (confuse, fear, stun, root, transform); this simulator represents the stated tooltip gate with its active `breakOnDamage` status flag. The tick-time splash query covers registered mobs with runtime positions in the generated eight-yard radius. It uses the common Shadow damage resolver per living eligible target, including modeled target immunity/resistance, and rounds the rank-scaled tick packet to the simulator's integer damage amount. It does not apply a Wandering Plague-specific area damage cap because the local generated talent data does not specify one.

The proc chance uses the owner's current modeled melee critical chance plus generated global Death Knight bonuses from Dark Conviction (`talent-1943`) and Ebon Plaguebringer (`talent-2043`). These two bonuses are added explicitly because the companion damage path omits generic talent critical-chance modifiers. Scoped strike talents such as Subversion and Vicious Strikes do not change this base-attack chance. Deterministic rolls are seeded from the disease tick and target.
