On macOS external drives, Vitest selected binary AppleDouble companions such as src/avatar/.*.test.ts and failed while transforming them. Preserve Vitest's built-in exclusions and skip every .-prefixed file or directory component. App TypeScript keeps its normal src scope and makes the same policy explicit; TypeScript 5.8 already skipped the tested dot paths before this change.
The portable regression helper exercises actual Vitest discovery/execution and TypeScript API/CLI input selection with fresh owned fixtures. Normal files, including a name containing ._ away from the start, remain selected. Existing metadata is retained. The helper records actual config/tool identities, accepts a fresh evidence path and uses the current Node executable. No fixed owner/drive/config hashes are required.
Validation and exact evidence identities are in docs/metadata-discovery-validation.json. Vite/Node config typecheck and release hygiene pass. The pre-change Vitest control reproduces binary-sidecar parse failures; fixed defaults execute ordinary sentinels and omit metadata roots. This is discovery verification, not a full browser build, gameplay/balance run or visual certification. Shared #9 retains its independent browser/live acceptance gap. Native runtime and the other workers' UI/stats/media are preserved; its source input mirror has no browser config files and requires no runtime installation for this source-only change.
