RoM Rogue/Mage Chaos Dagger (491178)
Current CoA behavior
The current Chronicles of Arcadia Rogue/Mage skill list lists Chaos Dagger (491178) at Rogue/Mage level 15 as a passive. Its +105 tooltip says every normal attack adds Fire damage equal to 169.4% of the attacking hand's weapon DPS. It also says each auto attack slightly increases Physical Attack Power for a short time, without giving that increase's amount or duration.
The CoA 12.1.0.4000 patch notes explicitly changed Chaos Dagger to a passive. The CoA 10.4.1.1000 patch notes separately fixed a wrong off-hand Chaos Dagger coefficient and a projectile requirement. Together with the current tooltip's “attacking hand” wording, this supports applying the coefficient to whichever hand made the normal attack.
Why this replaces the local RuneWaker payload
The local generated row with the same ID is the older active Enchanted Throw. It costs 25 Mana to activate a self aura, describes projectile consumption, and links an on-hit trigger to hidden child 491185. That row is incompatible with the current CoA skill: the current source calls 491178 a passive and specifies per-hand Fire damage. We therefore do not cast the old aura, consume projectiles, call Throw (490309), or invoke child 491185 for this mechanic. The current CoA page and passive conversion patch are the behavior source for this exact ID; the local row is retained only as evidence of the superseded RuneWaker version.
Mana cost ambiguity
The current CoA page still displays “Uses: 25 MP” above the word “Passive,” but the current effect text does not say when Mana is spent. The passive conversion patch does not explain the cost. In the older generated RuneWaker row, 25 MP is clearly the activation cost for Enchanted Throw; that does not establish that current Chaos Dagger drains 25 MP on each attack. Other current passive rows also retain “Uses” metadata, so the page field alone does not settle whether this is a per-trigger cost or leftover skill metadata.
The runtime currently applies no Mana debit to Chaos Dagger autos and does not expose a castable activation. This is an unresolved cost boundary, not a claim that CoA Chaos Dagger is confirmed to have zero cost. The in-game tooltip calls out the conflicting 25 MP field and says the runtime does not charge it pending clarification. The catalog test has an explicit 491178 cost exception for this same reason.
Implementation
src/game/romRogueChaosDagger.tscontains the current spell ID, 169.4% coefficient, passive marker, tooltip text, and an isolated calculator that requires the Rogue/Mage pair, a learned passive, a landed auto attack, and positive weapon DPS.src/game/romAbilityCatalog.tsreplaces the local name and description for the exact Rogue/Mage 491178 row and makes it passive. The generated passive marker is used for learned-state behavior such as Day of Rain.src/game/romScoutRogueOverrides.tskeeps the learned Chaos Dagger marker for Rogue/Mage. The old Enchanted Throw tag export remains as a deprecated alias for existing consumers.src/game/combatStore.tsadds a secondary Fire packet during the shared combat-result resolution for a landed Rogue/Mage melee auto attack. It reads main-hand or off-hand DPS from the same actor's equipped weapon. Player and generated-companion autos use this resolver, so no separate companion damage path is needed.- The Fire packet shares the normal attack's landed result and is passed through Fire resistance, Fire damage-taken modifiers, absorbs, health, and death handling. It does not roll a second hit or a separate critical strike. The base weapon attack remains its own physical packet.
Limits and assumptions
- The CoA page reports the 169.4% value at skill level +105. Healer Man does not currently model Rogue skill ranks from 1 to 105, so the implementation applies this published coefficient at every character level after the passive unlocks at level 15.
- The slight temporary Physical Attack Power increase is intentionally omitted because CoA gives neither its amount nor duration.
- Only the landed melee auto attacks represented by the current player and companion weapon loops are covered. The helper rejects misses, non-auto attacks, other class pairings, unlearned Chaos Dagger, and a missing/invalid hand weapon DPS.
