Scout/Priest: Drums of War

Source hierarchy

  • Current CoA Scout/Priest skills page identifies Drums of War as Scout/Priest skill 493010, level 45, passive, range 50, triggered by dealing damage with Shot, and affecting nearby raid members. It lists the current CoA Shot as 493011.
  • CoA patch 11.1.1 is the most specific effect-value source found: Drums now grants 20% critical damage only, replacing the former 5% critical damage plus raw critical-hit rating.
  • The earlier CoA patch 10.2.1 raised effect duration to 15 seconds and added the previous 5% critical-damage effect. Patch 11.1.1 changes the effect value and does not state a new duration.
  • The current skill-list Shot tooltip still exposes +10% Physical Critical Bonus and +10% Magical Critical Bonus, which conflicts with the more specific 11.1.1 patch note. The patch note governs the modeled effect value; the skill list supplies the passive identity, trigger, and range.
  • RuneWaker's generated local row remains the simulator's ability source. It matches passive ID 493010 and the Scout/Priest pair but retains its older payload: component 503258 applies flat +20 physical and magical critical-strike ratings for 8 seconds; component 503310 carries 15 seconds of re-trigger timing. The local Shot row is ID 490423, not CoA's 493011.

Modeled CoA behavior and explicit assumptions

  • Keep the exact Scout-primary/Priest-secondary gate and passive ID 493010.
  • Map CoA Shot 493011 by name and role to the local RuneWaker Scout General Shot 490423. The catalog has no separate CoA 493011 cast row.
  • Trigger on a landed ranged Shot. CoA says the Shot must inflict damage; the local combat event gives us the landed result.
  • Grant +20% critical damage for 15 seconds. CoA patch 10.2.1 supplies the latest located duration; patch 11.1.1 changes only the value.
  • Interpret the current Shot tooltip's post-effect restriction literally: wait 15 seconds after the aura expires before another proc. Since the existing ready-at runtime stores a timestamp from proc time, its equivalent total delay is 30 seconds (15-second aura plus 15-second lockout).
  • Represent “critical damage” as a 20% increase to the damage bonus portion of a critical multiplier. At the default 2.0 multiplier, Drums gives 2.2. Multiple critical-damage bonuses are summed before scaling that bonus portion; e.g. a separate +25% bonus plus Drums gives 2.45 at a 2.0 base.
  • Keep the sourced range 50. CoA says raid-wide; the simulator currently models the player and configured party, not a full raid, so recipient scope remains party.

Simulator mapping

romScoutPriestOverrides.ts owns the current constants, tagged aura, exact-pair proc selector, critical-multiplier helper, and tooltip override. romAbilityCatalog.ts applies the tooltip override to only the local RuneWaker Scout/Priest passive row.

The aura's critical-damage stat is descriptive metadata; its utility tag is consumed directly in combatStore.ts by the shared outgoing-damage resolver used for players and companions. On a critical hit, the resolver adds Drums' 20% to other critical-damage bonuses on the critical bonus portion of the multiplier. It does not change critical chance or ordinary hits. The existing +25% Spreading Pain bonus is preserved and stacks additively: at a 2.0 base multiplier, both effects produce 2.45. Aura application is controlled by the exact Scout/Priest proc gate; any living configured party recipient carrying the aura benefits, matching the simulator's party scope.

Validation and remaining scope

romScoutPriestOverrides.test.ts covers source values, duration/lockout timing, exact pair and local Shot mapping, learned-passive and landed-ranged gates, multiplier behavior, additive stacking, and catalog override scope. romScoutPriestDrumsOfWar.integration.test.ts covers player and generated-companion critical damage, unchanged critical chance and ordinary hits, configured party coverage/range, aura expiry, and the 15-second post-expiry lockout (30 seconds from proc to next readiness). The focused validation command is:

npx vitest run src/game/romScoutPriestOverrides.test.ts src/game/romScoutPriestDrumsOfWar.integration.test.ts src/game/romWarlockPriestSpreadingPain.test.ts src/game/romWarlockMageCoaRuntime.integration.test.ts

At implementation handoff, this focused run passed all 17 tests across four files. The CoA patch says “critical damage” without spelling out every attack category. The shared hook applies the buff to critical hits across represented physical and magical attacks, while leaving critical chance untouched. No full raid actor model exists to cover non-party raid members.
